Treatment for Hyperhidrosis

Hyperhidrosis is sweating in excess of that required for normal body temperature regulation. The condition usually begins in either childhood or adolescence. Although any site on the body can be affected, the most commonly affected areas are the palms, soles, and armpits.

BOTOX treatment helps control this condition by temporarily blocking the chemical signals from the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands. When the sweat glands don't receive chemical signals, the severe sweating stops. The procedure is relatively straightforward. A small volume of BOTOX solution is injected into the affected areas through a very fine needle. It generally takes approximately one week to take effect but can occasionally take longer.

Results typically last approximately 6 to 7 months. The results gradually fade, and if you do not choose further treatment, there will be no lasting change in the treated areas. Insurance coverage may be possible for the procedure.
