What are Restylane & Perlane made of?
Restylane and Perlane are made of non-animal based hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that already exists in the human body and is used to provide volume and fullness to the skin. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane and Perlane is biodegradable and fully biocompatible with human hyaluronic acid.
Where can Restylane be used & how long does it last?
The FDA has approved Restylane and Perlane for facial wrinkles and folds. Common areas that are treated include the lines around the mouth and under the sides of the nose, upper and lower lip lines, plumping up the lips, and the tear trough areas for the dark circles under the eyes. Studies have shown that Restylane and Perlane’s effects generally last for about six months or more in the case of perlane.
Restylane and Perlane are injected directly into the skin in tiny amounts by an ultra-fine needle, resulting in minimal discomfort. The results are practically instanteous. Some patients may experience discomfort around the injection site. To optimize your comfort during the short procedure, ice and/or a local anesthetic may be used.
